We're wanting to put internet service in our winter home in Arizona so that we can install 3-4 security cameras that can be monitored online when we're not there.

When we are there, we'd be running a laptop, an iPad, one smart phone and 1 or 2 TVs with Roku. Cameras likely wouldn't run much while we're there.

Internet options thru Cox Cable are "up to 30 Mbps download/up to 3 Mbps upload" and "up to 100 Mbps download/up to 10 Mbps upload".

$20/month difference in the package prices. Is the smaller 30/3 package enough to do what we want to do?

Thanks for any and all opinions.

Edit to add:  Options include renting a modem from Cox for $10/mo or purchasing our own DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Which is the better choice?

Our internet here, is 12 Mbps down and around 1Mbps up. We run 3 tv's at a time (grand kids over), Ipad, other tablets and computer, plus phone hook up when in house (WiFi internet). We have Netflix and Amazon Prime running and the PC internet stuff. Can even do some youtubing. Seems to work most the time (when everything is on same time) . .. . . .

Anyway, I'd think your 30Mbps should more then have enough to work. 3Mbps is pretty fast uploading and should work for most camera's over the internet (at least viewing one at a time).

I would also use their modem . . . ..if there are trouble, they'll claim its your modem - where it's really their line or system. Surprised the modem from them isn't just included - that's a little steep for a monthly charge. maybe try negotiate with them as a new customer, for the modem ?
