ND | I have continuity at the relay and the circuit breakers. Is there a way to reset them? The tractor has two 12 volt batteries and one was drained pretty low. Would that cause something to trip? When I turn the key the silver relay clicks. Any ideas what to try? Thanks (IMG_20180802_143041018 (full).jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_20180802_143041018 (full).jpg (276KB - 140 downloads)

Pickens | My advice is to remove, and clean each and every one of those studded/bolted connections and the bus bars, and make sure that old can style solenoid (relay) has a good ground... The later models use a relay that you can get at NAPA for ten bucks, (JD Twice/price)..., might think about updating that...Deere still caries a kit for this. I went thru this on the 4840, just dirty connections. Good Luck, Hope this Helps, CF

Do the cab fans both work on high, they have two separate power supplies and you may have problem with one. Wiring problems happen very often behind the right battery where the cab harness connectors are.

Pilot Grove, Missouri | My 4430 started doing the same this spring. Would be fine for a little while and then would lose AC and radio. I replaced the circuit breaker and it did the same thing. I started checking the wiring to the AC clutch as it would work forever until the AC was turned on. There was a wire that had rubbed through the insulation and was grounding out/tripping the breaker. My problem was under the right front of the cab, close to the cab mount and just an inch or two away from a connector. The circuit breakers are self resetting, turn off for a couple minutes and they will reset until there is excessive current draw again. Patrick Edited by PatCMO 8/2/2018 20:30

I am willing to bet money the harness connector under the right hand can door is toast

Jefferson MA | Had the same symptoms on my 4430. Cleaned everything as suggested...no help. Replaced the relay and that fixed it....relay contacts can corrode over and not pass voltage even though the relay clicks.

Fruita CO | I saw a 4230 with this problem last spring. They had the front end apart & mashed the yellow wire to the compressor when they put it back together. Grounded out, & the breaker got tired of tripping apparently, & just stuck. Fried the temp switch & every connection point on the yellow wire, it's a wonder it didn't burn the whole harness up. Replaced all the breakers...
