Black flies. Where are they comming from?

Kill some and take them to extension for ID.

Could be black fies which plague man and animal. They are called buffalo gnats and need flowing water to reproduce.

Or I would think more horn flies on cattle, if you go out when it is cool in the morning they are up on the shoulders and the bull will have way more.

Face flies look so much like a house fly they are hard to tell apart except house flies are in the house in the summer and face flies in the winter.

It seems to me in ND the mosquitoes and flies have an agreement so right when you are thinking finally, fewer mosquitoes, the flies show up.
