Leesburg, Ohio | So partly with the suggestions here, I finally solved my problem:
I first ran CCleaner, which got rid of a bunch of un-used and un-necessary stuff, and that speeded things up a bunch.
Then I googled how to wake up a Windows 7 computer, and after two or three false starts, found out that one way to get to the settings for sleep and hibernate is to right click on a blank space on the home screen. After right-clicking on the home page, I had to select "Personalize". (It couldn't say "settings" I guess that would be too old-fashioned) and select "screen saver", and then select power settings.
I later figured out all this is easier to access thru the control panel, under "hardware", but I guess I had not tried that.
I chose the option to "never sleep" for the computer, and for the screen to go blank after an hour or so. (On a lap-top, I would choose settings that saved more power.)
Now it wakes up as soon as I touch the mouse! What an improvement!! | |
