It totally depends on the system you're using.  Some are going to do a better job of compressing and streaming than others.  You most likely also have some ability to set the preferred streaming quality.  I'm running Ubiquiti cameras.  The slowest speed I have is 50 down / 25 up.  I can use up all that bandwidth pretty easily if I'm streaming multiple feeds in HD.
