Could be a power supply going bad as well.
Any post codes(beeps) when booting up?
If it's a bad ram module you can open it and if you have more than one rip one out and see if it behaves. If so put the one back in and rip the other out.
If Windows machine may have downloaded an update it didn't like and may have caused an instability.
It's kind of hard not being there.
My best guess shooting in the dark would be the power supply.
