Update on this thread. I have an employee who does almost all of the spraying so I have not used it much but he says he does not use the screen on his phone for typing at all anymore while he's in the sprayer. It's a big enough difference in speed/comfort/whatever that he uses it every time. He has an Android (Samsung S9 or something?) and I have an iPhone 8+. They both work fine with the keyboard.
