Subject: RE: Upgrading combines in this market?

Southern Idaho
Do you run your combine when it's raining? Do you not store your equipment in a shed? I don't see how the weather should make any difference on how much money you spend on equipment. I can tell you the sun here at high elevation is much more damaging to tires and hoses than at lower elevations.

I do agree having reliable equipment is very important. No reason you can't keep a good tractor or combine running reliably for many hours. I have found I am better off keeping my old equipment as a spare. I actually have a spare combine and a spare large tractor. Still probably spend less than half of what similar sized farmers spend and I have spares ready to go!
