NE ND | Either you are returning too much or you need to increase the hyd flow to the pump. At 8.5 mph and 10 gpa with the red tips you’re putting out .42 gpm which is right in the middle of that nozzle range.
I’m not sure I follow your reasoning of 30” because it plugs less, but you’re giving up pattern coverage that wide, not improving coverage, IMHO.
The nozzle size is what ultimately creates your pressure depending on what gpm you are targeting, and any return/agitation/sparge will alter that figure. Completely close the return and see what gpm rates you can flow before you open it up.
