Subject: What kind of fertilizer is in wood ashes?

I planted a field this spring with jiggs bermuda grass and it had 4 places where we burned some brush piles and the grass is growing really well there and the rest of the field is fair and we have not had a lot of rain. I was wondering what minerals were in the ashes,I have heard that it has potash in it but not sure but what ever it is that is what I need to apply to the soil and it is sandy soil. It looks like this is better than a soil test. Any help would be appreciated.
