We're having a very dry spell in the UK if not quite a drought yet, and old field boundaries are becoming visible from the air - and can be photographed readily for the first time ever. On the ground all you see is patchy clover.
The little plots would have been cleared from woodland to grow Oats, Rye and Hay. Previously recorded sites on hills nearby are quite well preserved and have been dated to about 500BC
It's quite an extensive area with more than a hundred little plots over 3 modern fields which have been ploughed for centuries as it's quite good soil.
