EC SoDak | Actually, they do go after cheaper products in the broad market. I studied this and then worked on it in my corporate life. The 80s/90s there was a boom in wages and buying power, it dropped after that and took a nose dive after the last recession. If I remember correctly, a factory worker back in the day had more buying power than a Bach college graduate 5 years into their career. Times have changed.
Edit to add: Wages haven’t kept pace.
