It has to be asked, what is going to happen in the end with the tariffs?

Subject: RE: Optimistic about what exactly?

The Chinese are selling us about $510 billion in exports, we export $150 to them. $50 billion divided by $510 B is 9%, $50 B divided by $150 B is 33%. If trump levies another $200 billion in tariffs and the Chinese retaliate there won't be any US exports to China whatsoever but the trade deficit will still be $250 billion.
So we'll be left with a $150 billion in goods to sell and no one to sell to, the US market for soybeans and airplanes is already saturated.
In the meantime, the Europeans are ready to enact their own tariff retaliation so our soybeans won't be wanted there. I doubt if the Japanese or the South Koreans need anymore soybeans and the Indians can't pay for them.
I guess it's a good thing I've got a spare bin waiting to put up, probably going to need it.
