Subject: New seeding alfalfa

S.E. Iowa
I have a 8 acre field that has been reclaimed from being a clay borrow area. They put black dirt back on top. I summer seeded alfalfa in September then got almost no rain last fall so it came up sparsely. Early this spring I sprayed on 12 more pounds of seed. Then came some 15 degree weather after a warm spell. I mowed it the middle of may because it was looking bad with weeds. Now it is looking pretty good but until yesterday we were sorely lacking rain and only got a half inch. It is blooming but should I wait to help strengthen plant or mow it?
