I have often wondered if patent protection is one reason companies change varietiy numbers so often. As long as they have a "new" patent on a new variety it continually keeps the boogie man 20 years away. They claim better yield but a public PVP variety non-RR is still one of the best yielders in our area when you can find a test that has non-RR and it has to be 10 years old by now. John
