I don't recall the price differential, but you must remember that soybean oil meal and roasted beans are 2 different feeds, with different applications. In PA, are you dairy? If so you probably need the "bypass" protein from the roasted beans. Meal is almost all "rumen degradable" protein, which is cheaper to get from alfalfa haylage.

For dairy cows, meal versus roasted beans is an apples-and-oranges comparison.

"Here", beans are $4.90 or so, delivered to the elevator. Check with grain buyers in your area for your current price. I have found that, for us, there really is no saving to growing our own beans and having them roasted. The custom roasting mysteriously works out to cost about the same as the cost difference between raw and roasted beans.
