I prefer the single implant like XS or XH for one main reason, reimplanting always comes due in July or August when finding cool enough weather to run them through can be difficult. Temps over the mid 80's with any humidity on working day can destroy intakes for quit a few days. Seen it over and over when I worked at a 5000 head yard in collage. Idk, could save close to 3 grand per year running them through 3 times instead of twice, But doing it twice saves me an almost a week of work, and I believe preserves feed intakes to offset the costs.
Yes this is very true-we have also seen re implant cattle never get back to were they were on feed consumption-but never weighed them-maybe the old implant had run its course etc. seems like 100 days goes awful fast, add in you can get cattle injury's where a calf twist its leg,or gets lame-that 1 time thru is probably a catch 22 vs twice thru-we usually pour them again also-

I do wonder if the 200 day implant is actually better-noticed less riding of the animals-perhaps a slower release of the implant
