Biggest thing is consistency. Consistent cores can be adjusted for. I want to watch the core as the probe goes to whatever depth. I measure every core. Some soils are going to compress no matter what, but i have limits. Some cores suck back out. Some cores want to fall apart. I want to watch and redo cores if i dont get full accurate cores.

Every auto probe ive seen has large downfalls and small windows of soil conditions were they work well.

I built my own. For 0-6 to 18" work for p k micros. N and deep n is different.
