WC Mn/Dakotas
I dont farm myself. Family does

I do zone sampling for a handful or so of growers after harvest every year.

I see very, very few that sample their own. More that dont sample at all than do their own. Mostly coops or Central or Midwest. Several independents like me.

Issues i see on both sides is accuracy of core depth. Coops and central often have interns getting paid by acre or just want to get done, sloppy and fast. Growers often oversimplify it. Unaware of the small details that make a difference. I see many sampling in season being done out of convience rather than concerned about accuracy at end of season

Its all about accuracy.

It is a great way to gather information on a field. Personal or independent is very valuable. Comvine the accurate sample with an honest yield goal and have a knowledgeable recommendation created. Coops here are only concerned with sales volume. Put more on, your a moron. Universities are largely 30 years behind. Labs are just an avg, not necessarily right
