I did notice one difference, the one that hammers has the PWM frequency at 50 Hz, the one that does not hammer has the PWM frequency of 60 Hz. I believe that PWM frequency is fairly touchy on these, or at least it used to be on the earlier SPX sprayers with SmarTrax. If you had the frequency at the "normal" setting, you'd get hammering. if you would change it, the noise would go away. Try playing around with that.
