She might want to look into a concierge type practice. Flat fee paid directly to the Dr. per month and all things you typically need are covered.

Watch this video I think it sounds like a viable cost effective solution and benefits Dr's too as they actually get to spend time with patients and practice medicine instead of focusing on paperwork, ins, and administration.

Over an hour long.

Puts the patient back in touch with the Dr., relieves the crushing weight of patient load on the Dr., encourages more to enter into the medical field, makes real healthcare not "insurance" the centerpiece, and improves outcomes at a fraction of the price.

The only problem with this is you have hospital chains absorbing or co-opting all the Dr.s in their areas to try and prevent this from happening. Where a Dr. can get cheaper meds, directly, xrays scans MRI's etc. that is one thing but if he is locked out of sending you to a hospital in an emergency that is a problem so some sort of Insurance would still be needed for catastrophic coverage events which would be much cheaper since routine stuff could be covered and prevented through concierge Dr.

Here is a listing of some of the direct pay type practices around the country. No idea on veracity or suitability of any of these but this was posted on another discussion forum from a person that is actually a patient of Dr. Josh Umbehr's (Atlas MD)
