Whatever the parties agree to can work.
I can see where the tenant might be more likely to pay for all chems in a lease where the landlord get one third and the tenant two thirds.
Here, the most common crop share lease is 50/50. In this situation, it far more common for the landlord to pay half the chems and spray bill, same as paying for half the fertilizer and application.
