Subject: RE: rebuilt spray trailer

Nw Iowa
We used to do it that way but problem for us was water. It worked fine to go 20 miles and spray a 1/2 section but even though we are spread out if the next farm was 7 or 10 miles it was easier just to drive the sprayer and have semi follow. A lot of times he could load sprayer and take off and find water without sprayer waiting too long. We used to have a truck tender the tender so we weren't saving that much labor. Other problem for us was deck space as a lot of time we need two shuttles and some other ingredients. Most of our mixes are 10 plus gallons so we went thru water with some being 15. Also the weight and maneuver ability could got to be a problem. Trailer may hold up with 90000-100000 gross but it may not. Originally we used it with a patriot with a 80' boom and that worked pretty good as we weren't covering as many acres in a day and sprayer was a lot lighter. I can't imagine a 4930 plus 3200 gals plus shuttles and what ever else you need for a batch. Once again a 4 or 5 gal per acre rate would make a big difference. At the end of the day I am glad it is gone but not throwing stones we just out grew it for our higher spray volumes.
