North Central Kansas | Meet MustacheO. 66.8lb boy, born Mothers Day. Momma's name is Twister (from the hair design on head)
Cheyenne Red Angus x Main Impression Shorthorn calf.
Great story on this guy.
Daughter woke up Sunday am with her eye still bothering her, but to a point of dad it HURTS. Ok, call eye dr ER, and head there at 840. Just leaving house, neighbor drives by, says you got a cow calving....great...ok can you check on her, I have to go to ER. sure.....
On way home (kid ok, particular in eye out, just irritation left) 15 min from home... Call, we got her in the barn, calf looks sideways. Ok...want me to call vet? yeh be safer. I call vet. Vet.. can you load her? call back neighbors can you load her? yep we will have her ready. vet yes,,,,ill buzz you when 10 min out.
I get to house, change from church cloths (planned on going since mothers day and all) into farmer cloths. Step out the door to put my boots on and hear the slam of the trailer gate. Get in the pickup and head right back way I just was. Got to vet, walked her in, they did their thing, Twister did her thing, and in 9 min back in the pickup headed home.
I would rather err on side of caution any day, then have a dead calf.
oh... I looked her up to let him start suckling. We have chickens in the cow pen, and they were just too much for momma. She kept chasing after them and not letting him suckle. An hour in my milking parlor and she was calmed down and ready to be a great momma.
