Subject: Auto steer and side dress

Bunker Hill, IL
I ‘m contemplating upgrading my planter tractor to auto steer, and making that tractor my side dress tractor as well. It would be my first auto steer set up and so a new experience on this farm.
I would like to be able to plant with this auto steer and then come back and side dress down the rows with the same tractor. Right now I don’t, because the front wheel aren’t quite on the centers of 60”. They’re 4” from the rows.
I ‘d be using an Integra for guidance and I currently have a GPS 1600 (WAAS). Would WAAS be accurate enough to stay on the row, with possibly an occasional nudge of the guidance line to stay centered? Do I need RTK or something in between? I ‘m probably not going to do the upgrade if I think I ‘ll need to pay for any sort of annual GPS subscription.

Thanks in advance.
