When do you like to replace baler belts? Have put 10k bales through my baler since purchasing and they were not new when bought baler. Havnt touched them other than new pins every 1000 bales. Deere 567 baler.

I start thinking about it when down to one wear rib. I might finish the year if about done. If I have a lot of stalks. To do, before I start them. I’d get a set on hand .
Above is best place I've found for Deere Belts. If you are having trouble starting a bale or have weak places in belts, I'd say replace now. If bales start good and splices look good, run them another season.

I was thinking maybe Deere recommends 500 also but I always do just once a season. I like Deeres pins vs the wire our new Hollands and Vermeer had but whatever brand if you run to long they are impossible to get them pulled out.

I go to 1500 plus. On the belts, there was someone on here not a year or so ago that bought belts and were not JD belts and had trouble with them. They replaced them and didn't think you should buy other brands, anyone ever heard this before. I do know a guy here put belts on a Vermeer and got some cheap and it never baled as good of a bale again.

Brent from my experience with JD, Verneer and new Holland was you could run them thru thousands of bales. The difference is when you go to take them apart. Once my pins or wires get worn bad they are near impossible to remove. Keep in mind my last new Holland was a 650 so they probably have a totally different system now.

Exactly, its more for ease of removal than failure of the splice. If you leave them in they break into about 8 pieces and then you curse and swear you're going to change them sooner next time as you fight each little piece out.

So the belts are junk but a guy still has to endure the torture of removing the pins to replace the belts? Am I missing something? They're just rubber, right?

We had 5000-6000 bales on a NH 648 before we knew we were supposed to change pins. Went from old chain baler and never read the book much until laces ripped out. After that we replaced pins @ 800 bales or so. Sold it before long and never did replace a belt.

I can't believe the splice are still together, change ours 1500-2000 bales, they still look good, but years ago went too long the pins broke into tiny pieces and don't want to go down that road again, changing belts this year with 15000 bales on them JD 467

Easiest way is to use a new pin and drive the broken peices out with it or a long thin punch.

I replace pins every 1,500 bales. Belts when they get down to wear last wear bar on Deere. Usally easy 10,000 to 15,000 bales sometimes more. Even on NH balers I changed the pins the same. So easy to change pins before they break.
