Looks like your machine has a sata 3gb/s which is a sata II. The sata III (6gb/s) is reverse compatible and will work fine. I did what you are talking about a few years ago, it is awesome. I cloned the old drive to the SSD and reformatted the old drive to use for onboard storage. Now when I go into my pictures it surprises me how long it takes for the drive to spin up and read.

Only problem is it wouldn't boot after the clone. Make sure you make a recovery usb or cd to boot from in case the cloned drive has issues like mine. I booted with the recovery disc and it was something minor like a corrupt or missing registry file.
