Subject: winter wheat works well

Corn/wht/corn/wht is our main rotation on irrigated acres.  It allows us to spread our irrigation water over more acres, plus all the other advantages to rotating.  Like Don, we'll use a JD no-till airseeder to plant the wheat directly after corn harvest (late September to Mid October).  For the most part, a "stock" JD air-drill (1850, 1860, or 1890) can plant through 200-250 bu/acre irrigated corn residue without problems.
