NW Washington | Go to a place like Best Buy or Costco and get the best one you can afford. I would go for an "all in one" so you don't have to find a place to put the separate tower and run cables to the monitor.
I am using a HP I bought a Costco which has been good so far.
Our previous computer was assembled locally by a small shop and it was less than satisfactory and turned out to be troublesome.
Use something like a Decrapifier program to get rid of all the unnecessary junk that is pre-installed on new computers.
