Subject: killing the crop, it’s a phrase I hate!

The person who coined the phrase of “killing the crop” should be hung by his thumbs and beaten with a switch! That person is essentially shaming those that are going through a dire situation into silence. These forums have become an outlet for some to relieve a bit of the stress they are dealing with day to day which few had the ability to before these times. Having gone through some of the darkest times in agricultural history and seen the affect of what holding in the anguish had on some people up to and including suicide. We are our own people that do not look for outside help, we are use to solving our own problems. It’s a form of bullying that could lead to a dire consequence. If you don’t like those posts DON’T READ THEM !
There always will be a crop grown, there will be setbacks to the crop, there never will be the perfect crop. All that matters to the trade is total production and carryout. They care not one whit for what yield and acres are, they just want an idea of what the totals could be. Arguing over a arbitrary number as yield is meaningless over an ever changing production area. When all is said and done we can’t change what is enumerated by the USDA and how the trade uses that information.
End of rant.
