D6Joe, yes steel prices are up, they were already headed up before the tariff issues were raised. Once that the government inserted itself in the market through tariffs it allowed domestic producers to abuse the market place. The people begging for those tariffs to protect their business automatically increased their prices because the free market wasn't allowed to be free. The government artificially placed bottom on steel prices.

Now if we want to call a spade a spade us grain farmers deal with the same supports in a slightly different form.

2nd note:
Yes retailers raise their prices on existing inventory because of market movement. You sure didn't stand in line to pay the higher prices collapsed a few years ago.
That same retailer took it in the shorts when steel went down and they had high priced inventory. The free market was at work so you got the lower prices.

Stop and think.
