Central IL
The silt that has filled in will basically never dry to work like regular dirt until it is out of the pond. The old bottom will be firm when you get to it. We top loaded scraper with hoe where it was muck and dumped it out next to pond. The scraper tires cut ruts through the muck when dumped so it was in a bunch of small wind rows. It was dry enough to smooth out in a few days when we were done with the rest of the pond. You could spread with manure spreader but most likely will be a lot of loads. This pond was 3/4 acre and we took around 7 feet out of it. 15 yard scraper took several hundred loads out.
