S Illinois | My guess is its is much like one's local elevator. During certain times of the year local elevators have long lines or bins are getting full so dumping is slow so they can stay open another day. Other times of the year not so much as farmers get into the field or most of the old crop is sold out. Between ship/barge/train logistics, weather, and maintenance they are not flat out all of the time. It just happened to be that everything came together and that much got shipped out. There have been other weeks above 3MMT combined it just doesn't happen year round. | |
