Beresford, SD | No irrigation here, but rye graze off and cane as a second crop would dollar out quite well. With this darn late spring.....at this date and forecast my rye (second crop beans) turn out date looks to be 20-30 days LATE! Did it for 4 years, grazed out rye with 5wts. Best cheap gain out there, last year ran my replacement heifers......still feeding this years girls waiting on spring. Had a set gain 2.56 on rye, grass hay in bale feeder and 2.5# of corn, 1# of ddg and .6# off liquid supplement mixed wth grain mix 4 years ago. Cheap gain. Was talking to order buyer in Montana late last week.....put a order in for 5 wts hfs.....he said sorry I've got an order a few dollars over yours. Yep, competing order was going to grass then into the 30k head yard, western Nebraska....Big outfit. (At least buyer was honest!).....some ones doing it cheaper......follow the money.
