I don't think most understand railroad is a totally different animal. It can be difficult to get it abandoned.
At least in my case it has been abandoned. The tracks were ripped up in the 1930s. One couldn't tell by looking at it that there had ever been a rail road there. It started as iowa coal and power then the CNW purchased them in the early 1900s. The U.P. bought the CNW in 1995. It was told to me that when the U.P made the purchase they did not buy all of the CNW only the main part as in the active roads. This certainly does not qualify as active, therefore the will not recognize owning it. |
