For me cutting down on carbs and sugar and getting lots of exercise was the key (started at 200 @ 5.9" and couldn't run around the block at 48 now 150 or so and run 20 or so tempo and hill miles a week @ 53+). Looking forward to beating lots of kids this weekend (have a 5K at Eureka College on Saturday and another 5K at the U. of I on Sunday). Wife never was over weight but I run 10 SLOW miles or so with her every week too. |
