Subject: AC question for Caleb 2684 and other HVAC guys

Gettysburg, PA

This past winter I noticed a problem with water running out of the condensation tray of my AC unit. The drain for the AC and the water softener were plumbed together and I am guessing the backflush of the softener was forced out the tray because the pipe was clogged as it ran along the floor (flat) for about 12 feet to the sump. I re-did the plumbing for the water softener but, haven't done anything with the condenser drain.  I will run it along the wall like the softener drain and have fall the entire way to the sump.  But, my question is: Should that drain have a trap in it?
