I think one of the biggest things is complexity to run. The more advance you get the more you have to learn. Kind of like laying out a normal tile pattern vs a subsurface irrigation plan. A lot more thought has to go into getting things designed correctly. I still see people tile straight up the hill instead of at an angle to it or on the contour. It is easy and will work without much planning. Not everyone is willing to take the time to do things the right way. Most people want an easy button. Laying ditches, tile or terraces out correctly takes time and knowledge. I tried to teach a very intelligent IT/ engineer type of person how to do tile design in our software about 6 years ago. He could run the program well but could not grasp the basics of tile design.

I just though of one question. Are you talking rice paddy type levees or river containment type levees?
