Subject: RE: RX seeding for precision planter

WC Mn/Dakotas
Here is an example of what im talking about. First pic is a typical corn seed rx i make but dumbed down to 3 zones. 2nd pic is same rx set to 18 zones (max i can print with histogram functioning). 3rd pic is summary of population of each zone. 4th is export page of Gk.

Red polygons are surrgo soil type. Black polygons outline the spatial arrangement set at 3 zones. Same rx with same population range of 24k-34k with 31k avg. You can see no zones match the surrgo lines at all. In the 3rd pic you can see how much change occurs within the 3 zone setting. 18 zones is simply for printing purposes. I export the rx set to 255 zones and at 3 meter resolution you get 70000 polygons as Gk can interpolate the zones (ranges) This interpolation is a key advantage that gk has over any other software that i am aware of. Planters and fert applicator equipment function better (smoother) than when running hard breaks and only a few zones that have big jumps of rates. The spreadsheet shows the min, avg, and max rate values found in each zone. This is what i was referring to earlier. There is so much area that gets over or under applied if you only use a small number of zones that you often lose as much as you gain. Same with doing manual queries on a full pass. Each pass has differrnt quantities of each zone. So one pass often not apples to apples to the next pass. Again your "answer" is merely a result of how gains are offset by losses, not truely an apples to apples comparison of various rates within the SAME ZONE. This is where learning blocks come into play. You compare different rates within a known common zone. I know in my best zone i have 33k. So i put blocks in tgat zone at maybe 31k and 35k. I know 24k-30k is too low. Likewise in the poor zone of 24k, i put blocks at 20k and 26k. Again i know 32-35k will fail 9 out of 10 years.
