Depends on what you need or want and what your planter hardware is capable of. My take is that most times you can get 80% of the value with 20% of the work without the complicated tools. Also remember that vrt prescriptions aren’t supposed to yield more as much as just reduce risk by distribuing inputs intelligently.


Kind of an oxymoron statement and im not picking on you. Its what i see many people say. Many of these people dont fully understand how these softwares work or the statistics their working with.

What im saying is it is highly unlikely to get positive results (especially consistent results) if you are using bad data or dumbed down spatial maps. Your giving up yield in areas as much as your gaining yield in other areas. The lack of consistentcy comes from these offsets changing.

Lots of people can say they are "doing variable rate". Only a few are doing it right.

How can you reduce risks by distributing inputs intelligently if you dont use the most intelligent form of map creation to start with?
