What monitor are you using?
As far as the ez steer you just turn like normal with some initial resistance to disengage. When you get your fingers between the wheels it doesn't hurt and hardly feel it but the motor on the back side of the wheel can scrape your knuckles which can sting a little. My first planting year my knuckles where scabbed up. When you're not using it lock it out of place. Trimble monitor only for the ezsteer.
If using ag leader monitors then you have to go to the on trac. I never used the on trac but think it is a better system. I switched from Trimble to ag leader when we went to hydraulic steer.
