I agree that some manufacturer software is bloated and awkward. Software fixes should help. If not I can recommend Brother printers. My Brother inkjet prints just fine with cheap aftermarket cartridges . I had a HP that was excellent but only accepted original cartridges ---> $$$. Then I had a Canon that lasted only as long as the warranty. I know of a 2000 vintage Brother printer (B&W laser HL1240) that still is in everyday use and consumables are readily available.
