East Central Ia, S. Waterloo | Had one, 20 footer, in general I liked it. The good the wings lock down so it does a good job across the width then again it can ridge on unlevel ground. It's a little light when it comes to chopping and burying corn stalks. My wings were getting worn in the lock down/hinge area which made them less affective for the chopping and burying. So I traded for a 490 20 footer. The wings on it don't lock down and ride up a lot making them less affective for burying trash at their ends, a lot of overlapping helps but is inefficient, it doesn't ridge though. Would think a wider one with bigger wings would do better. No experience with a 496 but would expect it to be similar to the 490. Interested to hear other opinions. |
