I have seen a few of these monitors where the serial port goes bad. To check this, you will need to hook your gps up to something else that that can read NMEA strings. I use my laptop with a free program call Visual GPS. That way you can eliminate if it is the GPS. Another option would be to borrow a display from a neighbor and test it.
