Subject: IJ is right on.......diatomatious earth is diatomatious earth......

Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

We pay 29 cents/lb for it.........put it on the planter, into the sprayer, into the bins, etc. etc.

As IJ said, it gets on the bodies, and as the insects move it gets under the skelatal plates and rubs into their soft area, causing bleeding.  It is merely finely ground "crustacea"  (sp?) (you know, the dead sea creatures which have crystalized and settled to the sea floor).

We also dribble it in when conveying grain into the bins (when the unloaders are "reminded" to do it).

As I have mentioned before..........2-3 years ago I did some research on the products that contained the DE..........and as one CA govt reseacher told me-------DE is DE is DE.  If there is any benefit to the "other stuff" in the commercial foofoo dusts, he had never seen it.
