Subject: The cleanest oil/air your engine receives

East Central Saskatchewan
Reading the previous thread about changing oil filters. My 1270 Case recommended every second oil change for a filter. Now I once worked in a boiler house when I was younger, what was common knowledge there was that the cleanest water coming through a zeolite filter was the last minute it was in service before you back washed it because the pressure drop was too great. The same is true for an oil filter or an air filter. My father inlaw thought taking the air filter out everyday and blowing it out was better for the engine, I showed him in his owners manual where they recommended running until the indicator was pulled to the red mark, then servicing it at your next service interval. A oil or air filter does the least amount of filtering the first day you put it on and improves daily as it begins to plug. Flame away!
