nw NC | Recently I was contacted by a local school teacher to see if I would come to the elementary school and participate in career day. It was to be an educational experience for students in which they could hear people of various occupations tell of their work and also students could ask questions. " Presenters" could also bring "tools of the trade" and show how they operated. Seeing this as an opportunity to educated non-farm town kids about a segment of agriculture ( Dairy ), I was happy to oblige.
Using pictures and video that I had made from farm operations over the years, I put together a video and slide presentation for the event. I took my computer and set it up for viewing . Also took along a milking unit, samples of corn silage, hay, protein concentrate, seed of corn and wheat, ears of corn and of course a jar of fresh cold milk. The children and teachers seemed to enjoy the presentation and learned from it.
I have uploaded the video to You-Tube and it is now available for viewing. Should anyone care to see it, here is link;
