Subject: Stiff calves

central PA
Have some dairy calves that were born back in November that have been weaned for awhile now, maybe 250-275lbs if I were to guess. Jersey/Holstein crosses and a mix of heifers and steers. Burned the horn and castrated the bulls about 6 weeks ago and gave them each a shot of Cd/t. Now a few days ago I had two that wouldn’t get up, and when the one finally did get up the next day she is very stiff. They both are very healthy looking and real perky, still drinking water and nibbling hay, but not seeming to get better.
I had the vet look at them and he thought thiamine deficiency and gave me a course of thiamine shots to give them for a day, and after that didn’t work he figured maybe it was tetanus and started them on penicillin. Couple of my other heifer calves seem like they are beginning to get stiff as well, does anyone have any idea what may be going on? Am very puzzled and want to get these calves fixed up and doing well again.

Thanks
