I think it depends on the soil. My dad put some pipe in as corners in a few "poorly drained" places 15 years go thinking that it would work better because the pipe wouldn't "float" up like ties do over the years. That was worse as they just tipped sideways instead of floating up when the frost comes out every spring. I've replaced all those pipe corners with RR ties a few years ago. At least with ties you can push the ties back down when they start popping up out of the ground. You can't push the pipe corners back up straight to re-tension the fence.
