| I agree that it's probably only a matter of time before much of the livestock goes to south America. With their lack of infrastructure, cheap labor and cheap grain it only makes sense to go from shipping out a raw material like grain to a finished product such as meat. The higher quality and more expensive meat's could even be flown into the US and could be on the store shelves within hours of being slaughtered. I see ethanol as being a potential boost to the livestock market in the midwest with the by products being a very cheap food source. The possible downside to that is it just might drive the cattle industry in the same direction as hogs took a decade ago towards confinement feeding. | |
